Claire Battershill


Official Bio

Claire Battershill just got her PhD in English, Book History, and Print Culture at the University of Toronto. Her writing has been published in The Malahat Review, The Fiddlehead, PRISM: International, and the Times Literary Supplement, and in 2008 she won the CBC literary award for her short story, “Circus.” Read her story, “I Caught a Tremendous Fish,” in Dragnet Mag Issue One:!

Community Involvement

Claire has taught at OCAD, The University of Toronto, and is now working overseas at the University of Reading in the U.K.


Current Projects

Claire’s short story collection, Circus, will be released by M&S in spring 2014.

She is currently being considered for the PEN International/New Voices Award for her story, “The Collective Name for Ninjas”. The winner will be announced September 11th, 2013.
