So much good news! Notorious November!

by ewreading

Hey everyone,

I thought my last post was full of good news enough, but it looks like I had no idea how much good stuff has been happening for the hardworking past EW readers and supporters!

1. Matthew Loney (June 2012) and Andrew Sullivan (July 2012) are both being published in Everything is So Political: An Anthology of Political Short Fiction by Canadian Authors, which is due out this spring (2013). It’s being put out by Rosewood Books. I’ll make sure to pass along info about a launch party when I get it!

2. This past Thursday (October 25) was the Ferno House Fall 2012 launch. Ferno House a micropress run by Spencer Gordon (September 2012), Mat Laporte (EW supporter…possibly a future reader [spoilers!]), and Arnaud Brassard (talented graphic designer and artist). I went and had a blast and bought all the new releases: Billboards from Hell by Mat Laporte, Mean Matt and Other Shitty People by Andrew Faulkner, The Fruit Machine by Shannon Maguire, and Flight Mode by Pat Larkin. Ferno House has also been in news lately because two of their chapbooks were nominated for the bpNichol Chapbook Award: Feel Good! Look Great! Have a Blast! by Spencer Gordon and skullambient by Liz Howard (another EW supporter!). Congrats on the noms!

3. Jeremy Hanson-Finger (April 2012) has had a bunch of stuff going on lately. Other than his book, which I’ve already told you about, he was interviewed in The Review Review about Dragnet Mag. He will also be reading at the 8th House Collaborations Party November 29th.

4. Bardia Sinaee (EW supporter and possibly a future reader [spoilers again!]) won the Walrus’ Readers Choice Award for poetry. Congrats, Bardia!

Next EW event is Tuesday, November 13, 2012. It’s going to be an extra special event because we’re being sponsored by Tightrope Books this month! Prize packs to be won, fun to be had! The readers are Carolyn Bennet, Laura Clarke, Cheryl Runke, and Matthew Walsh! It should be a great time! Duffy’s Tavern, 1238 Bloor Street West.

Flyer:

See you there!

Best,

Jess
